How to Find Canis Minor in the Night Sky

Canis Minor is one of the easiest constellations to locate because its brightest star, Procyon, is the eighth-brightest star in the entire night sky. On winter evenings, look for Procyon high in the southern sky — it forms the eastern vertex of the Winter Triangle, an equilateral asterism completed by Sirius (in Canis Major) to the southwest and Betelgeuse (in Orion) to the northwest.
